Microsoft UK– Impact Report

Microsoft

The Challenge

To create the first-ever Microsoft UK Impact report to showcase the wide variety of successful local social and environmental programmes, whilst both demonstrating sensitivity to local reporting requirements as well as connecting with global frameworks and parameters.

The Approach

Our approach was rooted in leveraging the existing global report framework while infusing it with compelling, tailored local content. Through creative copywriting and content creation, we unearthed local impact stories, pertinent data, and insights into the UK market from over 60 different organizational touchpoints. Our methodology included deep-dive cross-organizational research to identify highlights, key narratives, and thematic threads for the report.

The Deliverables

Microsoft produced a forty-page interactive ‘Update’ report. This report not only served as a testament to Microsoft’s decade-long commitment to societal and environmental progress but also highlighted key insights from the recent UK Materiality Audit conducted by Fit for Purpose. By leveraging this audit, Microsoft was able to identify priority areas going forward while also showcasing the achievements and highlights of the past year.

Microsoft UK retained Fit for Purpose to undertake a project with three principle elements: to drive our thinking about ESG and our broader role in society; to create stronger insight and awareness of the views of our principle stakeholder groups about our prioritisation of the various elements of ESG; and to generate specific actions for the leadership team to consider and on which it took action.

Throughout this engagement, Fit for Purpose has provided Microsoft UK with real value.  Their work with us has helped us to think harder about what we do, how we prioritise our time and attention and has formed a substantial part of the way we are planning.  Fit for Purpose is a consultancy led by Sophie, who has passion and insight, a deep understanding of the issues we face in society coupled with a pragmatic understanding of the role business plays.”
