Localising Renault’s CSR Strategy for the UK Market

Renault

The Challenge

Renault faced the challenge of developing a localised Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy tailored specifically for the UK market while ensuring alignment with the overarching global approach for Groupe Renault. The key was to maintain authenticity within the UK market context while staying true to Renault’s global ethos.

The Approach

We began with a comprehensive full-day workshop with the Renault UK Board, designed to facilitate deep discussions on how Renault could make a meaningful and positive contribution to UK society. It included:

    • Presentation and Contextual Understanding: We provided insights into the competitive landscape, legislative and regulatory context, as well as showcased best practices and thought leadership in purposeful business.
    • Interactive SDG Framework Exercise: We conducted an extended interactive exercise using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework. This exercise empowered Board members to individually and collectively define Renault UK’s purposeful alignment within the context of these global goals.

The Deliverables

Through this collaborative process, Board members gained a newfound understanding of Renault UK’s intended impacts in relation to the global SDGs. This clarity laid the foundation for a more focused and impactful CSR strategy. This workshop also yielded a commitment to action from the leadership to kick off a Materiality exercise. This exercise would involve full stakeholder consultation to identify key issues and concerns, which would inform the development of a refreshed UK sustainability strategy.
