Fit for Purpose is based in Oxford, which is a vibrant hub for social and environmental impact businesses, charities, social enterprises and ambitious regional community infrastructure programmes. It is home to world-famous social impact charity Oxfam, at the forefront nationally of the low-carbon energy transition with initiatives like the ground-breaking Low Carbon Hub community energy project, and has produced businesses such as the UK’s oldest carbon offsetting company, as well boasting scores of passionate, leading edge sustainability and corporate responsibility professionals.

Which is why Fit For Purpose Founder Sophie Brooks has decided to start a new community in the city, on behalf of professional body the Institute for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS).

The ICRS is the professional membership body for those in the corporate responsibility and sustainability sector. It is a national body which has been operating since 2014, and focuses on enhancing careers by honing skills, sharing knowledge and experience, connecting across sector boundaries, and gaining professional recognition for their achievements.

The Oxford ICRS Hub will bring together CR, Sustainability, energy & environment and social impact professionals located in the area to collaborate and share good practice, knowledge and skills. The emphasis will be on thought leadership, best practice sharing, news and networking. There will be no requirement for attendees of the regional hub events to become ICRS members. However, I would urge you to take a look at their website to see whether you think there could be any value for you or your organisation in becoming a member nationally.

We plan to meet once a quarter, with the inaugural meeting taking place on November 7th on the topic of Perspectives Plastics Pollution, with speakers from Waitrose, WRAP and Amey Plc. The format of the events will be informal, there is no cover-charge, and we will hold events in central Oxford.

We would like to invite anyone interested in joining our Hub to come along to our first event by signing up via Eventbrite here.

If you would like to join the Hub and get on the list to hear about future events, please just contact Sophie.
